From the Tech Desk: Microsoft will never call you. IT IS A SCAM.

If you receive a call from Microsoft, the IRS, your bank or any other large corporation or government entity, hang up IMMEDIATELY. It is a scam.

  • Do not let them access your computer.

  • Do not give them any bank account information.

  • Do not buy them gift cards.

  • Do not believe anything they say.

Scammers often sound very professional and can be very pushy. Remember, their goal is to rob you, and they are experienced and good at it.

If a scammer repeatedly calls you, harasses you or makes threats contact the telephone company directly or contact law enforcement.

If you were scammed and provided access to your computer to anyone who called you, texted you or emailed you, call your bank and credit card companies IMMEDIATELY. Some of our clients have been robbed of thousands of dollars - please do not be one of them.

Here is a link to a video of a US based computer technician dealing with one of these scammers.

If you are unsure about what to do with any unsolicited call, email or text message ask us. We are in every day at 202-686-9097.
